update (also my effort to post more)

So we just won the CofC Battle of the Bands at the Music Farm last night!!!! What is our prize you ask? Well, we get to play more music! We officially opening up for State Radio on April 25th at Cougarpalooza in the heart of downtown charleston/cofc campus (in the cistern yard). We hope everyone can make it out because its FREE, and It should be a beautiful day outside.

-Side Note: remember the previous post when we said April would be lighter on gigs, Well we lied. Turns out we have problem, a booking problem, it just never ends. I think we are our own best managers. So we have 16 gigs this month.

As always, thanks for everyone's support. I'm still amazed how many people continually come out to our shows day after day. It is absolutely the greatest thing in the world.

(Music Farm Setlist: B.E.C., Cairo, Abilene, Dig Deep Lay Low, Hearts Come).

Looking towards the future...

Sometimes it feels like we are living in the future. We are nearly completely booked up until June (which is slowly filling up too!!). Lots of exciting things going on in the next few months; April is light in gigs (only 10 compared to nearly 20 last month), however, I'm positive we will still feel just as busy. I can only hope that we fill that time with writing the new, practicing the old, and of course new cover tunes is a must.

Here's a sample of what is on our plate:

1. Old You plays on a boat, thats right, 4/9 on the USS Yorktown. Sorry its a private party.
2. First gig in North Carolina (Wilmington @ Kefi 4/22) thanks to Casey, Nautilus, and Pipeline Event Management
3. Caleb graduates CofC w/ a BA in Psych (music minor) 5/7
4. Old You recording at Awendaw Green during the second week in May;  Old songs reworked? Previously unrecorded songs? Brand-spanking new songs? Who knows? It may contain a little bit of everything.

The future is always an interesting point of view, although it is nearly always a skewed vision. Just remember to focus determinately and put positive energy into the present. You will find yourself meeting or even exceeding your expectations, even when things don't turn out as you planned.

As always, thanks for your support,
-Caleb

Tuesday feeling like Thursday....

Tired already, but loooook to the right --->

We have music on the blog now!!! I can't believe it didn't happen right away, but we are up with the times now.

Also, I did some research and it turns out Old You played about 70 shows in 2010. However, what is even more exciting is the fact that once February is over we will have played over 30 shows in two months. The challenge has been set for 200 shows in 2011. I think we are making good progress.

Happy Super Bowl

Actually, I'm not even watching the game today. However, I am still taking part in the relaxation; drinking a beer and grilling steak. We've started the new year with a busy busy January playing three to four shows a week. We are all tired, but we are loving every second of it. The new demos have been going like hot cakes, we are so excited that everyone seems to be enjoying them. February looks just as packed, but we are looking forward to taking a small break in March to write some new material. Many ideas are already coming together in midst of everything we are doing right now, so we are looking to add several songs to our repertoire.  New songs to look forward to include "Cairo", "Caribou", and "Caravan of Floats". The letter "C" happens to be the new trend I suppose.

In other new we recently played a show with another smoking hot local band called Gangrene Machine. We all had a blast at the Village Tavern this past weekend, and we plan on collaborating a lot more in the future so look forward to exciting things.
